About

Sheila Heady

I am a percussionist and keyboardist based in Western Massachusetts. I studied at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, obtaining a double major in music and political science. My percussion teachers included Eduardo Leandro, Ian Hale, Thom Hannum, and Ayano Kataoka, and I took harpsichord continuo with Miriam Whaples.

While in school, I played in the University of Massachusetts Marching Band and Hoop Band, Percussion Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, University Orchestra, the Five College Opera Project, Medieval Ensemble, and co-founded the Baroque Orchestra. During the summers of 2009 and 2010 I was the first ever synthesizer player for The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps.

I play hand drums for Ensemble Musica Humana, keyboards in a classic rock cover band, and am the organist for Whately Congregational Church. I always enjoy learning new instruments, my current project is mastering the Hayden Duet concertina.
